罗忠敬，美国人文与科学院院士（Fellow of AAAS），美国工程院院士，国际燃烧学会前主席，美国能源部燃烧能源前沿研究中心主任，清华大学燃烧能源中心主任，在国际燃烧领域享有盛誉。美国普林斯顿大学机械与航空宇航系戈达德（Robert H. Goddard)讲座教授，该讲座是纪念美国现代火箭技术之父戈达德博士而设立的，美国加州大学圣地亚哥分校机械物理博士。

罗忠敬院士曾获多个具代表性的组织，包括美国航空航天学会、美国机械工程师学会、美国工程教育学会及燃烧学会等颁发的多项杰出科研奖、教学奖及论文奖；已合作发表国际期刊论文400多篇，论文总引用超过6000余次，H指数高达44，并于2000年被国际文献资料库「ISI知识网络」誉为工程界中全球最常被引述的科学家之一，2008年被路透社誉为能源燃料界最常被引述作者；2000年获得加州大学圣地亚哥分校杰出校友奖，2007年获得香港理工大学杰出校友奖。

Abstract

In celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Department of Thermal Engineering, I shall first reminisce how a visit to the Department in the early 1980s subsequently blossomed into active collegial collaboration, which eventually led to my joining Tsinghua and the Department through the Center for Combustion Energy. I shall then present my vision for the Center, the research and educational programs under planning, and a report on their progress. I shall also share with you my thoughts on promoting the Department’s drive towards superior academic excellence in the next decade.

在庆祝热能工程系成立八十周年之际，首先我将回顾上世纪八十年代初我对热能系的一次访问是如何引发后续活跃的校际交流，并最终促使我通过燃烧能源中心的成立加入到清华大学。随后我将谈谈我对燃烧能源中心的展望，中心正在制定的科研和教学计划，以及这些工作的进展。我还将与大家分享我对在未来十年如何推动热能系朝着顶尖学术之路发展的一些想法。
