1、Goals

Doctoral candidates should have a solid knowledge of a broad range of fundamental theories and a thorough understanding of the theory in their specialty. The candidates will have an in-depth understanding of future developments in their major and will undertake in-depth scientific research that may involve studies in majors outside of their own specialty.

2、Program Length

The doctoral program requires 3-4 years, with candidates who obtain their degrees directly after their bachelor’s degree without a master’s degree taking 4-5 years.

3、Subject areas

The doctoral program is in Thermal Engineering and Engineering Thermo-physics with concentrations in thermo-physics, thermal engineering, power mechanics and engineering, fluid power machinery.

4、Training

All doctoral candidates are supervised by a thesis advisor with the advice of a guidance committee. For interdisciplinary doctoral candidates, the advisors invite associate advisors from the related discipline. The candidates study a wide range of materials related to their research, attend academic conferences, and independently pursue and complete their scientific research.

5、Curriculum requirements

Candidates obtaining their degrees directly after their bachelor’s degree without a master’s degree must take at least 30 credits with 6 credits of general courses and at least 19 credits of courses related to their field.

Candidates obtaining their degrees after a master’s degree must take a total of 13 credits with at least 4 credits of general courses and at least 3 credits of courses related to their fields.
