The 4th Energy Talk! Energy Talk hosted by the Graduate Union of DEPE (Department of Energy and Power Engineering) was held on Sep 27, 2018.

At the beginning of the Talk, Li Qiang introduced the background about the Energy Talk, which focused on the culture and academic.

The Talk was divided into four aspects: energy consumption, renewable energy in china, clean coal technology and advanced tech developed by DEPE.

Firstly, we talked about the energy consumption in China, which was strongly related with the economic situation during the past years.

Then, wind power, solar energy and natural gas are the main renewable energy forms in our country and importantly, clean energy has a lot of positive influences on residents’ live, including improving air quality, reducing dependency of coal and changing our lifestyle.

Next, we discuss the fact that coal-based energy pattern is difficult to change for a long time and therefore, developing clean coal technology, reducing pollution emissions from the source, and improving energy efficiency are the major trends in the future.

Last but not the least, Li Qiang shared the advanced coal-fired power generation technology. The world's first 600MW supercritical circulating fluidized bed boiler, which was independently developed by Tsinghua University, passed the 168h assessment operation at 8:00 am on April 14, 2013 and Won the first prize of the 2017 National Science and Technology Progress Award.

At the end of the Energy Talk, we discussed the energy situation in our own countries and we all agreed that it’s our responsibility to do the real things and make technology into real industry.
