Research Status

The Tsinghua University Fluid Machinery and Fluid Engineering research team headed by Professor Wang Zhengwei, carried out a lot of basic research on theoretical model and simulation of multi-field coupling characteristics of multi-phase flow in fluid machinery. And combining with engineering practice carried out theoretical and technical research on multi-objective channel optimization design, multi-field coupling dynamic characteristics analysis and optimization performance analysis design.

Such as the new tidal generator set which developed by Prof. Wang’s research team has been successfully applied to Jiangxia tidal test power station with bidirectional turbines, pumps and discharge operation. The team’s research results of operational performance analysis and optimal operation are applied to the large hydropower plants, dredgers and storage units of Three Gorges Power Station, Baihetan Power Station, Datengxia Hydraulic Complex, Shuikou Power Station, Xiaolangdi Power Station, Wanjiazhai Power Station, Guangzhou storage unit, Yangjiang storage unit, Xianyou storage unit, etc. And more than 80 sets of runners have been developed and designed by this team were operated efficiently and safely in many hydropower stations and pumping units.

In recent years, the fluid machinery and engineering research team has carried out in-depth research on informatization, intelligence and greening of fluid equipment and systems, built a three-dimensional simulation analysis platform and comprehensive test platform, worked closely with production, study and research institutes, carried out extensive academic exchange and talent training at home and abroad, and has innovative research ability of core basic theory and application technology of fluid machinery and engineering discipline.

Honors And Awards

Wang Zhengwei presided over two national 863 projects, one national key foundation of natural science, four national natural science fund, one special research project of the State Oceanic Administration, two international cooperation projects, two key scientific and technological projects, three green design platform projects of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and over 180 scientific and technological projects of domestic enterprises and institutions. He has applied more than 10 patents and registered 3 software copyrights. Over the years, more than 280 scientific papers have been published, including more than 80 SCI papers and more than 200 EI papers. The research results were awarded one first-class prize and five second-class prizes at provincial and ministerial levels. He has edited the Eleventh Five-Year National Planning textbook "Fundamentals of Fluid Machinery" and "Lexicon of Hydromachines on Multilanguage" (Chinese, English, French, German, Russian, Spanish and Japanese).

Academic Achievement

Prof. Wang has taught two undergraduate courses, Fundamentals of Fluid Machinery and Elasticity and Finite Element for a long time. The editor-in-chief's "Application of Elasticity and Finite Element in Energy and Dynamics Science" has also entered the publishing process, and revised " Fundamentals of Fluid Machinery ", which all expected to be published in 2021. He has trained more than 40 master's and doctoral students and directed 16 post-doctoral studies. According to the requirement of the MOOC ( massive open online course ) platform , the course of " Fundamentals of Fluid Machinery " was completed in 2017, the course of "Elasticity and Finite Element" and the course of "Fluid Machinery Multi-field Coupling Basic Theory and Engineering Application" will be completed in 2021.
